By being connected into a DX Cluster you will get weather announcements in real-time as they are spotted. You can also query for past weather announcements.  Additionally, you can post weather announcements to the network. 

 

Making Weather Announcements

The  WX  command is used to make a general broadcast to users connected to your local node.  .

Example:

wx Tornado alert for travis county

 

To make an announcement to users across the whole network use the FULL operator.

Example:

wx/full Three inch hail reported in travis county

 

 

Real-Time Weather Announcements

As soon as you connect into a DX Cluster you will automatically start receiving weather announcements as they are posted.  The display of real-time announcements can be configured using the Set/Wx commands.  The SH/WX command can be used to display past WX announcements.

 

 

Show Weather

 

The  SHow WX  command can be used to output the past weather announcements.    The default number of weather spots displayed can be set with the Set/Wx/Count command.

Example:

show/wx

 

The Show/WX/nn command allows you to specify the number of weather announcements displayed. 

Examples:

show/wx/10

show wx 30

 

The Show/WX command can be used to display past weather announcements while disabling all WX Filters.  See Set/WX/Filter for weather filter options.

Examples:

show/wx -

show wx 30

 

The Show/WX ann command can be used to filter weather announcement on the announce message.  The command executes using an exact match.   You can also use the "* character to do wildcard matches. 

Examples:

show/wx  msg=temp
show/wx  msg=*storm*
 

 

The Show/WX Spotter command can be used to display weather spots filtered by spotter.  

Examples:

show/wx  spotter=k5xh
 

The Show/WX SpotterNode command can be used to display weather spots filtered by spotter node.  

Examples:

show/wx  spotternode=w9zrx
 

The Show/WX SpotterCty command can be used to display weather spots filtered by spotter CTY country.   The country list is based off the wpxloc.dat file.

Examples:

show/wx  spottercty=k
 

The Show/WX SpotterState command can be used to display weather spots filtered by spotter state.  

Examples:

show/wx  spotterstate=tx
show/wx  spotterstate=tx or spotterstate=nm
 

The Show/WX SpotterCont command can be used to display weather spots filtered by spotter continent.  

Examples:

show/wx  spottercont=na
show/wx  spottercont=na or spottercont=sa
 

The Show/WX DTS command can be used to display weather spots filtered by date-time stamp.  

Examples:

show/wx  dts>2011-12-17 03:04:55 and dts<2011-12-18 03:04:55
show wx dts>2011-12-11 03:04:55

 

 

Show Weather Options

The SHow WX Options  command is used to display the weather announce spot options.   The following options are displayed: 

WX/Count The default number of displayed weather spots.

WX/Filter The weather filter parameters

WX/Mode The filter mode for weather spots.  Valid modes are: Open, Filter and Debug

WX/Output The output mode for weather spots.  Valid modes are: Off and On.

 

Examples:

show/wx/options                                             

 

 

Set Weather Options

The following weather options can be set using the Set/WX command: 

Set/WX/Count Set the default number of displayed weather spots

Set/WX/Filter Sets the weather filter

Set/WX/Mode Sets the filter mode for weather spots.  Valid modes are: Open, Filter, Debug

Set/WX/Output Sets the output mode for weather spots.  Valid modes are: Off and On. 

 

 

Set Weather Count

The  SEt WX Count  command is used to set the default number of spots displayed for real-time and past weather announcements.

Examples:

set/wx/count 10        

 

 

Set Weather Default

The  SEt WX Default  command is used to set the weather options back to the default settings.  Default factory settings are:

Count 10

Filter Cleared

Mode Filter

Output On

Examples:

set wx default        

 

 

Set Weather Filter

The  SEt WX Filter  command is used to set the filters for the real-time and playback of past weather spots.  Advanced filter validation logic is used to verify filter changes.   Bad filter settings are rejected.

Examples:

set/wx/filter SpotterState=TX

Set Weather Mode

The  SEt WX Mode  command is used to set filter mode for real-time weather spots.  Valid modes are:  Open, Filter and Debug.  Settings are defined as:

Open Turn off the weather filter and display all spots.

Filter Activate the announce filter based on the SET/WX/FILTER settings

Debug Activate the announce filter based on the SET/WX/FILTER settings.  Show filtered spots with a - and unfiltered spots with a +.  Used for filter debug.

Examples:

set/wx/mode open         

set wx mode filter         

 

Set Weather Output

The  SEt WX Output  command is used to set output mode for real-time weather spots.  Valid modes are:  OFF, and On.  Set settings are defined as:

Off Turn off real-time weather announcements spots.

On Display the normal user spot format.
